NRECA Statement on Confirmation of Gov. Rick Perry for Energy Secretary

ARLINGTON, Va. — National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA) CEO Jim Matheson today issued the following statement regarding Rick Perry’s confirmation as Secretary of Energy.

“We congratulate Rick Perry on his confirmation by the Senate to lead the Department of Energy, which is an important partner in our pursuit of innovative solutions to meet consumers’ changing energy needs. America’s electric cooperatives are working with DOE to advance renewable energy and carbon capture technologies, deliver affordable hydropower to rural America, and ensure the security and resiliency of the electric grid.  We look forward to working with Secretary Perry to continue these important efforts and provide the reliable and affordable electricity that drives economic growth in the communities served by electric co-ops.”

The National Rural Electric Cooperative Association is the national service organization that represents the nation’s more than 900 not-for-profit, consumer-owned electric cooperatives, which provide service to 42 million people in 47 states.
