Along Those Lines: Co-ops Navigate Historic Influx of Infrastructure Funds

The $1.2 trillion bipartisan infrastructure law passed in late 2021 has resulted in new government programs and huge sums of available grant money. More than $100 billion of that funding will go toward initiatives that electric cooperatives could likely qualify for, including broadband expansions, electric vehicle charging networks, clean energy incentives and grid resiliency work.

This episode is sponsored by CTC Global.

This enormous federal commitment offers an unprecedented opportunity for co-ops to add services and improve their systems for their members, but it also presents a challenge in terms of navigating the complicated and time-consuming process of applying for federal grants.

In this episode, NRECA Director of Business Transformation Lauren Khair outlines the association’s infrastructure resources for co-ops, and Jessica Gray, chief financial officer at Victoria Electric Cooperative in Victoria, Texas, discusses how her co-op is managing the grant application process.
