The spirit of cooperation was in full bloom at NRECA’s Arlington, Virginia, headquarters during a ceremonial tree planting June 26. More than 400 electric cooperatives in 43 states sent soil for the “Co-op Roots Run Deep” event commemorating NRECA’s 75th anniversary. And the cooperation didn’t end there. NRECA national directors, CEO Jim Matheson and others took turns shoveling soil around over the roots of a young American rosebud tree.
“As we put soil around this tree and dedicate it here today, whenever we walk by it in the future, let it be an enduring reminder of the fact that we cooperate together and we work together,” said NRECA President Phil Carson.
