Over the last 50 years, the Electric Cooperative Youth Tour has sent over 75,000 rural teenagers to Washington, D.C., for the “trip of a lifetime,” where they meet with their elected officials, tour historic monuments and build relationships with each other. Through the Youth Tour and Youth Leadership Council, NRECA works to cultivate our next generation of co-op leaders.

This episode is sponsored by Meridian Cooperative.

In this episode, NRECA Youth Programs and Training Manager Beth Knudson discusses the program’s history, impact and future. We’ll also hear from the 2023 Youth Leadership Council national spokesperson Rukaya Alrubaye on why it’s important for co-ops to invest in future leaders.
