NRECA’s Lincoln office has been selected as one of the “Best Places to Work” in Nebraska’s capital city.

The awards, which recognize organizations that create a culture and work environment that fosters personal and professional growth, were presented June 12 at a ceremony in Haymarket Park in Lincoln. NRECA was ranked third on this year’s list in the large company category.

“This achievement reflects our positive workplace culture, our commitment to service excellence and the dedication of our team,” said Mike Covalt, NRECA vice president of Lincoln operations.

The staff in NRECA’s Lincoln office provides key support to co-ops participating in the NRECA employee benefits program. Among other teams, the office houses NRECA’s Member Contact Center, Retirement Plan Distributions team and Cooperative Benefit Administrators Inc.—a for-profit subsidiary of NRECA that manages certain group insurance claims processes, benefit payments and participant support.

The Best Places to Work in Lincoln program, sponsored by Woods Aitken LLP, the Lincoln Journal Star and LincolnHR, uses employee feedback—gathered through a third-party survey—to rank local companies based on workplace environment, leadership direction, culture and management practices.

NRECA also received the Community Impact Award—one of three additional honors at the June 12 ceremony—which recognizes the ranked company with the strongest commitment to giving back and making a difference in the Lincoln community.

“This recognition is especially fitting for NRECA, as our cooperative principle of Concern for Community is at the heart of what we do,” Covalt said. “The time, effort and contributions our employees make to local charities like the People’s City Mission, Lincoln Food Bank and Matt Talbot Kitchen, as well as our annual Concern for Community initiative, continues to positively impact so many lives. ”
